Open Mind Music was founded in 1994 on Divisadero Street in San Francisco by Henry Wimmer, who began working in record stores in 1987. You can imagine how many records have passed through our racks since then. If you're interested in selling us some records (or CDs, tapes, or memorabilia), please make arrangements with Henry at 415 920 9400. We offer cash or trade, with the value being significantly higher for trade.

We do not currently buy audio equipment.

Open Mind Music opened in Oakland's beautiful Rockridge neighborhood in 2017, a couple of years and a few doors down from our current spot. We love live music and host it in front of our store on the second Saturday of every month. (We try and keep it on the quiet side, for our neighbors. We actively support Rockridge business engagement. Just leave your coffee at the counter while you browse.) Why is this information on this particular page? So you're not strangers.
